Did you know roses bloom in France in late November? I saw a caterpillar in the garden a few weeks ago... where was he going? When I came back to find out, he was gone. In the evenings I sit by the fire now as I write these captions. In the morning the village will be under a layer of frost and there I will be, at the kitchen window, looking across the square at the light on in the bakery and knowing I am not alone... and somewhere outside the roses battle on another day.
