The community outpouring of support made me feel so thankful that as an artist I not only have people to share my work, my heart, with but also my fears. I felt connected to others even in a moment of isolation. Two days in a row doing laundry from overnight blow-outs (the baby, not me) and killing time in the garden analyzing the centimeters of leaf growth from the day before. We ate dinner at 5:30pm here, and decided it was time to start using the grill since Eloise has undertaken a new project of displacing the 50,000 rocks in the garden. We came to pick up our dinner this afternoon because I still want to support my friends and their small local business while on my foraging trip in the countryside for today’s subject when these flowers presented themselves as the perfect such thing. It was the same bread, same familiar faces but completely different protocol. The usual crowd was there but instead of being all packed into an impossibly small shop, everyone waited outside a meter apart, only going into the shop one at a time. The woman who usually took my 1€ for a baguette using the same hand she passed the bread was now part of a two person team. One person took the money, the other served the bread with hand protection. I made my way through town and found some local wine and ultimately this incredible cheese from the family owned shop who stocks their eggs from their own chickens. on community and the things I can control. A few days ago I walked to my small grocer in town for fruits and vegetables and to my surprise he had tulips from a local farmer who is being devastated by the effects of COVID-19 on his business. I bought the tulips and told him I will buy any locally farmed flowers he can find, a chain of support as small as it may be. The second I spotted them there in the shop I knew they would be perfect for this artistic collaboration \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan class=\"\"\u003e\u003ca class=\"notranslate\" href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/paperfashion\/\"\u003e@paperfashion\u003c\/a\u003e proposed to me where I film my hands creating a still life and in turn she does the same basing her painting off my creation. (You can watch the video in stories she cut together of us both creating today!) So this still life has a lot of sentimental meaning to me. Two days ago I put all the tulips and peonies from my mantel in the refrigerator hoping they would make it to Sunday, picking up the rest of spring on a post Easter egg hunt walk with Eloise. Some pansies, cherry blossoms, one newly budding lilac and a few irises were among our discoveries today. I try not to even look in places I know will leave me in “want”. What do I have to buy something to for anyway? We are at home. Every day I am faced with a closet of clothing desperate to be worn. I play dress up to match my photo sets, because it makes me feel respectful of the curation not unlike dressing for an important business meeting or church. It makes all this fashion I love so much not feel wasted.⠀\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p1\"\u003eThe brand of this dress is based on sustainability,  sustainability... something I’ve thought a lot about recently. When we come out of this total life reset and after we’ve broken all our spending habits, I want to really use this moment to redefine what kind of “consumer” I will become. What is it that I want to support, that I hope to see survive? We each have that power big or small to make those choices that impact people’s lives and our plant.
