Day 51 #isolationcreation ⠀

There was a realization today as “D-Day” or “deconfinement” begins to draw near... despite being released from our homes May 11th, things will not be normal for a very long time. Social distancing, limits on our distance of travel (100km compared to the 1km we are currently subject to), masks in public, no large public gatherings, and restaurants, bars and hotels still closed. I take comfort that I will be allowed to leave my home without a declaration but I don’t take comfort in the distance we must maintain for the foreseeable future. I agree with it, I respect it, but I don’t wish for it. ⠀

When my very kind friend @cedric_maros left a box of flowers from his garden outside my door he sent me an Instagram message that there was a delivery. I popped my head out the window onto the square and yelled “bonjour!” as he was waking away. I ran down the stairs to discover this incredible rainbow of irises. I wish I could hug him. We talked 6 feet apart and I realized, this will be a long road to recovery. ⠀

Playing with the irises on the terrace, marveling at how they are all the same but vastly different, I couldn’t help but feel it was a beautiful representation of us as a species. The same, but each unique while being bound in this moment together, this whole wide world.
