Rose Month Day 21: A Classic Romance

You don’t have to love a rose to receive a rose and be completely swept away into the romance of it all. Romance doesn’t have to mean romantic love, but rather, a positive enjoyment toward the beauty of life. When I was a child, I would cut roses in the garden with my grandmother early in the morning, taking care to cut the tips off the thorns, and present them proudly to elementary school teachers. I loved the genuine look on their face upon receiving the gift and the feeling of pride in the coming days to see our rose in vases on teacher’s desks. It is a simple joy. There is so much humanity in it all.

This past week, Eloise and I took bundles of flowers to her school to pass out among the teachers, administrators, and caretakers. One of the french women asked me, “Pourquoi les fleurs?” To which I responded, “Juste parce que,” —Just because

So the question is, when is the last time you gave someone flowers?

Thank you @alix.d.reynis for the French vase, @matthewrobbinsdesign for the roses, and my darling Eloise for the foraged greenery 🌿
