What I do as a photographer is work in the details — it is the details that make a photograph. Not that they should be noticed, but rather balanced so that what you are trying to say can shine through. ⠀

What are the details in what appears to be one of my more simplistic photographs? Well, the placements of the egg's freckles, the angle of the feather. The little sheen on the feather bone. The tonalities of the cup mirrored in the tonalities of the wall. The hard, direct graphic shadow in contrast to the little spots of light on either side of the pedestal of the cup. The black characteristics of the marble table on the right side, a diagonal balance to the shadow on the left. Where the line of the marble table crosses the frame, meets the object is critical. The simplicity of the three tonalities and perhaps, more importantly, that little highlight on the foot of the wood. These are all decisions I focused on one by one to build this photograph a detail at a time, no more or no less important to me than the gesture of a hand or swoosh of a skirt or shape of a petal. ⠀

I walked into the local farm stand and bought some eggs, one had freckles and led me to this. ⠀
