Rose Month Day 5: Swan Song with Tulips, Irises, and Peonies

This past Sunday I went to the Coustellet market and @terreduluberon84 was there selling their tulips, a highlight of spring without a doubt. They told me this was it, the last week for tulips, and invited me to the farm to see them all one last time. Today at sunrise I went out to meet Cecile, to watch her cut peonies, to talk about our love for bugs and the interesting science behind farming organically. Anyone can visit their farm Monday to Friday at 11 am and buy farm fresh flowers (and veggies!) direct from the grower.

On the drive home on this very rainy day in Provence, I pulled over to forage a couple of irises and purple lilacs for my shot—something that represents the passage of spring to summer… it’s funny to me, many of the flowers in this photograph will be gone by next week. But oh how much I will enjoy missing them until we see each other again next spring. I cut roses from my garden moments before roses from @larrosoirparis arrived on my doorstep. A few of the @le.saint.hubert roses snuck their way into this photograph too.
