A little snail took a ride on a piece of lettuce that ended up in the shopping tote of my neighbors which, upon discovery, was immediately offered to me. Yes, of course I’ll take him! Avec plaisir! And how fitting... he climbs on an iris I was the grateful recipient of in a delivery of garden flowers on my doorstep from a local friend, in a vase that was once for pharmaceuticals still bearing the old label with “destinataire" or "recipient" in English. This photograph exists because I have been the lucky recipient of the best quality of mankind, thoughtfulness.
